Joel F. Geer, J.D.
Joel F. Geer is a founding member of the firm and concentrates his practice in every imaginable aspect of construction and business law. After graduating from Capital University School of Law (Columbus, Ohio), Mr. Geer went to work for the Georgia Governor’s Office as a small business advocate. From there, Mr. Geer took on the role of general corporate counsel for a group of affiliated telecommunications and outdoor media companies headquartered in Atlanta. In that role, Mr. Geer advised the various corporate officers and boards in virtually every aspect of corporate and general business law and led the holding company’s mergers and acquisition team. After successfully guiding his corporate employer through Chapter 11 reorganization in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, Mr. Geer decided to leave Atlanta for his permanent hometown of Greenville. In 2001, Mr. Geer joined one of the Upstate’s top construction law firms to practice construction law and to provide experience in the fields of business law and creditor’s rights and was made a partner of that firm in 2007. Later that year, Mr. Geer left his firm to form Business & Construction Law Group, LLC, a law firm dedicated to giving excellent representation to businesses and individuals in South Carolina, Georgia and North Carolina at very reasonable rates.
Mr. Geer is an alumni of Leadership Greenville (Class 35) and serves on the Board of Directors of both the Roper Mountain Science Center Association and the Greenville Men’s Lacrosse Club. He also coaches youth soccer, baseball and lacrosse in his spare time. He has a wife and two children ages 7 and 9.

James F. Carter III J.D., MBA
James F. Carter III is originally from Greenville, South Carolina, and is a founding member of the Business & Construction Law Group, LLC. Mr. Carter graduated from the University of South Carolina with a triple major in management, marketing, and finance. Immediately after his undergraduate studies, Mr. Carter entered into the joint Juris Doctor/Masters of Business Administration program at the University of South Carolina. Upon completion of this four year program, Mr. Carter spent a year as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable R. Markley Dennis, Jr., of the Ninth Judicial Circuit (Berkeley County and Charleston County, South Carolina). Following his clerkship, Mr. Carter returned to upstate South Carolina and took a job as an associate at a local law firm practicing primarily in the areas of business and construction law. Mr. Carter ultimately left this position to help create the Business & Construction Law Group, LLC.
Angela A. Elliott, J.D.
Angela A. Elliott is originally from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she worked in the family real estate and golf course development business. After graduating from Columbia College, Ms. Elliott worked in Washington, D.C., for Senator Ernest F. Hollings on the United States Senate Commerce Committee. She received her law degree from the University of South Carolina and subsequently clerked for the Honorable J. Michael Baxley of the Fourth Judicial Circuit (Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, and Marlboro counties, South Carolina). Ms. Elliott then returned to North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to assist her father, Senator Dick F. Elliott, in his successful re-election campaign and to practice law with the Fata Law Firm as a civil litigator, real estate and business lawyer.
Ms. Elliott moved to Greenville, South Carolina, and began working as a real estate and civil litigation attorney with the Nelson Law Firm before joining the Business & Construction Law Group, LLC. She is currently working on a Masters in Business Administration thorugh Clemson University and is actively involved as a board member of the South Carolina Ballet. In addition, she is a member of the Downtown Greenville Rotary Club.
